Description
This is a truly unique item, that comes with a history.
The lamp was made by the same factory that manufactured Kaiser Idell lamps (designed by Christian Dell in 1930s), but this one was ordered by a Portuguese petroleum company Sacor, which it ordered not for resale but for its own use.
Interesting details: on the metal SACOR label on the base you can also see the 4-digit number. Every item in government sponsored organisation had to be numbered.
Here is a short story of Sacor, which until nowadays sparks nostalgic feelings among the Portuguese people.
In 1937 two Romenian immigrants asked the Portuguese government for license to operate a petroleum refinery in Lisbon. The response from Salazar was positive but carried one condition: the Romanians had to be baptized in Portuguese church.
The two men refused and moved to France. Soon, however they received a letter from the Portuguese government, informing them about their change of mind, and a licence was granted.
SACOR was established in 1937. All was going well, and with the so called “Petrollium law” of 1947 SACOR was able to obtain 50% of the petroleum market.
With the car boom of the 1950s and 60s, things could not be going better. Many Portuguese associated SACOR with vacations, dad driving and stopping for refrigerants and candy on one of the SACOR filling stations.
However, right after the revolution on 25 of April 1974, the new government nationalized SACOR, which was swallowed by GALP.
Nowadays, SACOR memorabilia is rare and in high demand among the collectors.

Condition:
All original painting. As you can see on the photo, some scratches on the paint. Structurally in excellent condition. Tested for functionality.
FACTS:
Please note that this product is vintage. It is almost never perfect. It may be a little asymmetric and metal parts may be slightly bent. Any major defects are mentioned here, but please expect to see some minor irrelevant defects not mentioned, that are common to products with more than 20 years of age.
