Statement Light for the sitting area in a traditional seaside residence

  • The Challenge

    The living room features a high ceiling, a traditional brick fireplace and a neutral colour palette. Although the space benefited from abundant natural daylight, it lacked a strong visual focal point after sunset.

    The lighting needed to:

    • establish a clear centrepiece above the seating area
    • provide soft, comfortable ambient light
    • complement traditional materials without appearing heavy
    • maintain an airy, coastal feel

  • The Lighting Solution

    A large white pendant was selected as the central decorative element. Its sculptural silhouette and layered acrylic petals diffuse the light evenly, producing a soft glow that enhances the room without creating harsh shadows or glare.

    The white finish reflects daylight beautifully during the day and visually lightens the composition, making the substantial fixture appear elegant rather than dominant.

    Its generous diameter allows the pendant to sit comfortably within the volume of the room, creating the right sense of scale while drawing attention to the centre of the living space.

    The new pendant transformed the atmosphere of the room by adding both visual balance and warmth. During the day it acts as a sculptural feature that complements the traditional architecture, while in the evening it creates a calm, inviting ambience for family gatherings and relaxation.
