The broad deep cobalt-blue border provides a dramatic contrast to the white centre and is richly decorated with an intricate gold gilt lattice, floral and scroll pattern. Fine gold bands frame both the central scene and outer edge, giving the plate the elaborate appearance typical of traditional English decorative and cabinet ware.
The reverse bears the original Durability Weatherby, Hanley, England, Royal Falcon Ware backstamp together with the date code 1-72, dating the plate to January 1972. A particularly attractive example of vintage English decorative pottery, suitable as a collector's plate, cabinet plate or decorative wall plate, especially for interiors incorporating traditional English, country-house or eclectic vintage pieces.
