Arraiolos tapestry is a traditional, hand-embroidered wool tapestry made in the town of Arraiolos in the Alentejo region of Portugal. Dating back to at least the 16th century, these rugs use a specialized oblique cross-stitch on a coarse linen or jute canvas to create dense, flat-surfaced floor coverings with Persian, Moorish, and European floral influences.
Here we offer an Arraiolos tapestry cushion, dating 1970s. It features a unique hand woven design, and an original brick colored canvas backing material.
Back opening for inserting a rectangular cushion.
Not just a cushion, but a small piece of Portuguese history and craftsmanship.
The cushion cover is 37cm x 37cm and is in excellent condition.
Please note that we sell only the cover not the cushion.
