Original 1950s Soviet ice skates, made in the USSR from black leather with metal blades.
The boots have a wonderfully utilitarian post-war design, with heavy black leather uppers, reinforced stitched panels, metal eyelets and substantial steel skate fittings. The contrasting red/burgundy trim and surviving mismatched laces add to their authentic vintage character.
The leather has developed attractive creasing and patina from use, while the blades and metal fittings retain the expected signs of age. Rather than looking decorative or reproduction, they have the distinctly functional construction of mid-century Soviet sporting equipment.
A great collectible piece of Soviet sports history, but also particularly effective as winter décor, chalet décor, ski-lodge styling or a vintage sports display. One lace is still original.
There is a city name embossed on the blades Leningrad. Size approximately 35 (EU), could be women´s or children´s. The condition is visible in the photos.
