Arraiolos tapestry is a traditional, hand-embroidered wool tapestry made in the town of Arraiolos in the Alentejo region of Portugal. Dating back to at least the 16th century, these rugs use a specialized oblique cross-stitch on a coarse linen or jute canvas to create dense, flat-surfaced floor coverings with Persian, Moorish, and European floral influences.
Here we offer a pair of round Arraiolos tapestry cushions, dating 1930s. they feature a unique hand woven design in earth towns, typical for the Portuguese design of that time, and a new soft army green colored backing material.
