Set of 3 late 19th–early 20th-century Portuguese or Spanish provincial carved wooden stools, with Rococo/Baroque Revival influences.

A charming antique European stool featuring an unusually decorative carved wooden frame. The curved decorative stretchers, along with the delicate scroll and floral ornamentation, reflect the historic Rococo and Baroque Revival vocabulary popular in European furniture of the period.

The substantial, architectural form gives the stool a strong presence, while its relatively compact dimensions make it equally suited to use as a stool, occasional seat, or decorative accent piece.

The frame appears to be carved from solid wood, possibly oak. It has been carefully restored and given a glossy white painted finish, then upholstered in a striking new zebra-print fabric, creating an unexpected contemporary contrast with the traditional carved structure.

The original seat was covered in aged leather, attached with traditional upholstery nails. The frame retains the character of an antique piece while the new upholstery and finish make it ready for contemporary interiors.
